Buriti Fibre in Maranhão, 2025

Natalia travelled to Maranhão to immerse herself in the buriti fibre, expanding her knowledge through direct, hands-on experience. Her creative process was guided by hands that carry generations of stories. The craftsmanship emerges from buriti, a fibre drawn from the leaves of a palm that thrives along rivers and wetlands.

Following each stage up close became more than discovering a new material. Watching the braiding take form was an act of cultivating knowledge, preserving culture, and honoring the richness of Brazil.
